the concept behind these is the intimate distance we feel with the state of being asleep; the intimacy we feel with it, and the distance created from observing it. i used klimt’s sketches of women sleeping as source material because they objectify the unconscious, and sexualize the subject as an observer.
i used oil sticks and solvent on mylar, and collectively they are 5 by 6 feet.
